Scripture Observed: First John

On this Saturday evening, August 30, 2008, me and Mike, my neighbor, attended a church service in Aloha.

As a new church, I believe, they are preparing for formal Sunday morning services to start in several Sundays from now. They have around seven adults, seven children, or around three families, at the core of this church.

They are getting physical and financial support from at least three other sorrounding churches. The pastor, Eric, was previously a pastor of a church (over a hundred in the congregation, probably) in the capital city of Oregon.

When Eric asked for prayer requests, that Saturday night, I submitted my need for a job, which was parralleled with several others in our crowd.

We reviewed the first several verses of First John, of the living testimony from John, of the Gospel from Jesus. Eric stressed the importance of relying on Jesus (Pr.3:5-6), on truth, on the principles and foundations to life!

In other words, do not live and collaborate with apostasy, with compromise, with heresy, with anything less than the truth of God's Word!

Eric told Mike about The Way Of The Master, which is co-lead by Kirk Cameron, which has the purpose of opening people's eyes to Jesus, to the hope of eternity, and especially to the hope of today!
